LISTEN: Table Manners with Jessie Ware podcast

Can you imagine going over to a pop singer’s house for dinner and recording a podcast interview around their dinner table…with her mom? Table Manners is a charming podcast about food, family and art of conversation over good food. It is hosted by British soul singer Jessie Ware and her mum Lennie who originally was supposed to be cooking while Jessie asked the questions. Now in its sixth season, they are equally curious and ask the questions while living together during quarantine while Jessie’s house is being renovated…cue the dysfunctional banter before and after the interview.

The pair have interviewed a fun mix of celebrities from the food, music, movie, and comedy worlds including John Legend, Dua Lipa, Haim, Neneh Cherry, Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Richard Curtis, Emilia Clarke, Charlotte Tilbury and the hilarious Aisling Bea, But my favorite lockdown episode was with the comedy double act Mel and Sue who most Americans know as the hosts that set the funny and kind tone for The Great British Baking Show (Bake Off). For fans of the TV show Mel Perkins also talks about her feelings about what happened with Paul Hollywood and leaving the show.

The delightful (and very British) conversation about food and favorite meals reaffirms their good natured humor and lovely friendship. It should bring a smile to your face and supplies some much needed laugh out loud moments. A highly recommended good tonic during Covid-19.
